N/W Information

The Physics Department has two networks - (1) An Wide Area Network (WAN) running on 10.10.136.* network and (2) A Local Area Network (LAN) running on 192.168.0.* network.

The WAN is reserved ONLY for faculty members and other fixed locations such as office, research laboratories etc, while the LAN can be used by everybody. In summary, while WAN should be used by the permanent (or semi-permanent) members of the department such as faculty members, office staff, research scholars etc., the Students MUST use only the LAN. However the LAN can be used by anybody irrespective of their status, including visitor.

LAN Connection
To connect to the LAN, configure your device to get the IP address through DHCP and use the Proxy Server as 192.168.0.3 with Proxy Port 8080.

 Wireless SSID :  Physics-WiFi
 Wireless Security :  None (Open)
 Proxy Server :  192.168.0.3
 Proxy Port :  8080
 Proxy Authentication :  Required

The proxy authentication requires that you have a password and an user ID. If you do not have one, please get it through the panel on the left Request Login ID.

WAN Connection
To connect to the WAN, configure your device to get the IP address through the allocated table (see below) and use the Proxy Server as 10.10.127.3 with Proxy Port 3128.
