Integrated Teacher Education Programme

About the Programme:

The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a four-year teacher education programme designed to produce passionate, motivated, and professionally trained teachers. Its aim is to ensure that future educators are well-equipped to design and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences across different stages of school education.

According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, teacher preparation should involve multidisciplinary perspectives incorporating content knowledge, pedagogy, values, and hands-on practice under quality mentorship. Teachers are also expected to be grounded in Indian values, languages, ethos, and traditions, while being familiar with contemporary advances in education. Gauhati University is offering the B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. programmes under ITEP from the academic session 2026–27.
