The BKB Auditorium

The Birinchi Kumar Barua Auditorium, popularly known as the BKB Auditorium is one of the iconic structures in the Gauhati University Campus. Located just opposite to the Administrative Complex, by the side of the main Academic Block, it is a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity of about 1800, which has been a witness to many historic events. It is named after one of the most eminent littérateurs of Assam and one of the founders of Gauhati University, Dr Birinchi Kumar Barua.

It is also the venue for the  Annual Convocation of Gauhati University.


Main Academic Block

The Main Academic Block of the university which houses many departments including Philosophy, Mathematics, and Library Science. An Open-Air Theatre can be seen in front of the building (right).

KK Handiqui Library

The Central Library of the university, named after the founder Vice Chancellor of the university - Dr Krishna Kanta Handiqui. 


Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL)

Gauhati University Institute of Distance and Open Learning, popularly known as the IDOL


New Academic Block

The New Academic Block of the university which houses the arts and humanities departments along with language departments. The panoramic view of the imposing building can be seen in the bottom photograph.


Sports Complex

The GU Sports Complex with its stadium. The complex houses the Directorate of Students' Welfare, a Gymnasium, an Indoor Stadium, along with its primary stadium, equipped with flood lights. The structure on the right (can also be seen in the left photograph) is the newly built indoor stadium with some state of the art  facilities.


GU-IST

GU Institute of Science and Technology (GU-IST) is one of then newest additions of constituent institutes in the university.
